Milestones! Two Years, Three Thousand Brushes and Shop Progress

Things have been pretty crazy around here lately. I have been doing my best to stay afloat and to keep production on track, but I wanted to take a moment and reflect on some big milestones.

Two years of full time brush making

I walked away from my career as a web designer two years ago this week. It was a huge leap into the unknown at the time. I left a safe, comfortable job with great benefits and a pension for the promise of freedom. In the time that's passed since that day, I have been able to take better care of myself (no more working in the shop at 4 a.m. before work). I'm so grateful to all of my customers who have supported me through this journey. You are a blessing to me.

I recently completed my 3,000th brush! It's a stunner too: black resin ferrule, twin aluminum inlays, stacked leather handle with a base of wooly mammoth ivory. It's also got a matching razor handle of stacked leather. I'll be raffling this thing soon. Stay tuned.

Shop Progress

It's ALMOST done! I've moved in all of my equipment. even my office and casting room are fully functional. I just have to get some oak siding on the walls, put some decking down in the loft space, and run properly plumbed dust collection to get the hoses off of the floor. Check out the casting room here!
